Updated: Sep 30

Chandigarh, JNN: To reduce the transport pressure on the national capital, Delhi, and provide convenience to the people of Haryana, a decision has been made to construct a double railway line between Palwal and Sonipat. The Haryana government has approved the Orbital Rail Corridor project, which will not only increase the speed of trains but also significantly benefit industries. The Detailed Project Report (DPR) for rail connectivity from Palwal to Sonipat, running alongside the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway, has been approved.

This 130-kilometer-long railway line will provide direct rail connectivity to Gurugram, Faridabad, Ballabhgarh, Palwal, Manesar, and Farrukhnagar, eliminating the need for residents of these cities to travel to Delhi. The Haryana government plans to establish five new cities, known as Panchgram, along the KMP Expressway, and this rail corridor is considered the first step in that direction.

With the joint efforts of the Haryana government and the Ministry of Railways, the board of directors of the Haryana Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited has prepared the proposal for the Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor project. The project received approval in a state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Manohar Lal.

This rail project will run between Palwal and Sonipat, parallel to the KMP Expressway. Senior Minister Om Prakash Dhankhar stated after the cabinet meeting that the rail corridor from Palwal to Sonipat is estimated to cost ₹5,566 crore. A total of 17 stations will be built along the route, 14 of which will be new.

The board of directors of Haryana Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (HRIDC) has approved the DPR for the Orbital Rail Corridor project. In a recent meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary, it was decided to complete the construction of the double rail line between Palwal and Sonipat within three years. This rail line will also connect to the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) network at Pirthala. Stations will be built at New Palwal, Silani, Sohna, Dhulawat, Chandala Dungarwas, Manesar, New Patli, Badsa, Deverkhana, Badli, Mandothi, Jasaur Kheri, Kharkhoda, and Tarakpur along the rail corridor.
